Police records describe how VA Medical Center drug trafficking ring worked

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. - The Contact 5 Investigators obtained probable cause affidavits that detail how the drug trafficking ring worked at the local VA Medical Center and how police were initially tipped off to the alleged operation.

In February, police seized more than $100,000 dollars from a man named Larry James Dorsey at a Pittsburgh airport, documents show.

Detectives say Dorsey led police to his parents house in Jupiter, and in particular, to his mother Terri Guerra. Detectives claim Guerra was responsible for ordering, procuring and the inventory for all controlled pharmaceuticals at the VA.

Documents show Guerra at first "did not know what her son Dorsey did."  However, they claim she later "began to change her story," stating that she did have knowledge "of her son's illegal drug selling and storing the money for her son." Documents reveal that detectives found tens of thousands of dollars inside Guerra's home.

The affidavits also reveal that undercover detectives bought drugs on the grounds of the VA on at least 13 separate occasions over the past six months. They claim they bought drugs from a handful of different VA employees and two patients.
