PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. - A Palm Beach County pizza delivery driver, who was only on the job for three days, says he was robbed at gunpoint.
Driver Oscar Cruz says it's a delivery he'll never forget. "I thought that was the end for me."
Sunday evening a man ordered a large pizza. When he arrived at a home to make the delivery there was a light on and a car in the driveway.
When he reached the front door he found a lock on it. He later learned the home was abandoned.
Cruz says two masked men appeared and told him to be quiet and get down. "They put two guns to my head, put me down to the ground, and tell me to stay put."
He says they took $200, his cell phone and personal SUV. But he thought they were going to take his life. "As soon as they put me down to the ground I thought that was the end."
Cruz says after his short stint on the job he's learned a hard and almost deadly lesson. He says with more foreclosures and criminals desperate for money, pizza drivers need to be more vigilant. "They should take a better look at the house before they deliver."
Cruz says the thieves still have his 2003 yellow Nissan Xterra. He says police told him the vehicle has been used in two other robberies.
Anyone with information is asked to call Palm Beach County crime Stoppers at 1-800-458 TIPS.
