PEANUT ISLAND, Fla. - Palm Beach County Sheriff's Deputies will start tougher enforcement of a ban on alcohol use on Peanut Island.
The ordinance went into effect on May 18 of this year. Since then, officials say deputies issued warnings to people caught drinking on the island. Now, they say the warning period is over.
If you get caught drinking alcohol on the beach, you will be ticketed. Underage drinkers will be arrested.
PBSO officials say they won't have additional deputies on the island during the holiday, but they will have extra patrols out on the water. Since the law went into effect, PBSO says they haven't had any issues with people on the island.
If you plan on spending the holiday on the water, officials urge you to enjoy it safely. There will be extra patrols from several different agencies to make sure it's a safe holiday.
