PALM SPRINGS, Fla. -- A Palm Springs mother was arrested Sunday night after her two children -- ages 4 and 6 -- were caught in a house fire without their parent, Palm Springs police said.
Kenalta Clark, 38, is accused of leaving her two children alone at her home at 3862 Canal 9 Road while a piece of meat was boiling in water on her stove. Police said the fire broke out around 7 p.m.
When Palm Beach County Fire Rescue arrived at the scene, they removed both children from the home. Both suffered from heavy smoke inhalation.
Clark arrived at the home around 8 p.m. and was arrested by police on charges of child neglect.
Both children were hospitalized and are expected to be released to the Florida Department of Children and Family Services.
