PALM BEACH, Fla. - Rick Wentley opened his surf shop, PB Boys Club, 18 years ago.  The idea immediately stuck.

"The kids wanted something to put on the surfboards.  So I had them made and I put them in this bin here.  Rather than sell them, we just give them away," said Wentley.

The best promotion is free promotion, so when the stickers started popping up around town, Wentley knew it was the start of something bigger.

"People started taking them in their travels around the world, stick it, and then send a picture to me," said Wentley.

Now the sticker has been photographed across the country, around the world, and in some of the most inhospitable places imaginable.

"My buddy was visiting me at Christmas time, works at the South Pole in Antarctica.  He said we had to get a sticker on the South Pole. So he took a bunch, and two days later sent me the pictures from the South Pole," said Wentley.

With an album full of pictures from around the globe, Wentley keeps track of his customers and their travels, and hopes the idea behind the tradition sticks around.

"I assume that it's made us more well known.  I don't know, it's just something we do.  It's not something I promote.  It just kind of evolved that way," said Wentley.
