Witnesses say closing Flagler Bridge span clips boat mast on Intracoastal Waterway

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- A boat sailing on the Intracoastal Waterway near West Palm Beach was clipped by a closing Flagler Bridge span, according to someone at the scene.

Witnesses said the boat was traveling north when the bridge that was closing hit the mast of the ship, cracking part of it off the vessel.

The accident happened near Palm Harbor, the area the ship was steered to after the accident.

The incident comes during the Palm Beach International Boat Show, which runs through the weekend.
