WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Palm Tran has set six new articulated buses into motion, calling them each a "bus and a half."
The six new buses will run on routes 1 and 3, the routes with the heaviest rider traffic. Each bus is 60 feet long, 20 feet longer than an average bus.
According to Palm Tran Executive Director Chuck Cohen, the operating costs of the new vehicles are similar to that of the buses that being retired.
The new buses are being paid for with a federal grants and state taxpayer dollars.
Cohen says all of the drivers have been trained to drive the longer buses.
