PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. - A preliminary $2.3 billion budget that includes an additional $33 million for teacher pay raises was approved Wednesday by the Palm Beach County School Board, Jason Shockley, chief public information officer for the school board, told WPTV NewsChannel 5.
The budget also defers all major construction projects and includes $1.6 million to hire 24 police officers for the elementary schools.
The final budget will be approved in September, Shockley said.
