PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. - They're sometimes accused of getting into "hot water," but Palm Beach County commissioners are now getting out of it.
Palm Beach County Commissioner Steven Abrams announced Wednesday that the county has decided to put an end to the use of hot water in most of its buildings, including the South County Administrative Complex.
The changes are already in effect and have shutdown 135 hot water heaters countywide.
"We're in tough economic times," says commissioner Abrams. "Some people say it's a drop in the bucket, I say every penny counts and this is a good six-figure savings for the county to do this and so it's very much worth it."
The initial annual savings of turning off the hot water is a little more than $160,000 dollars.
