LAKE WORTH, Fla - One person has died after a multi-vehicle accident in Central Palm Beach County.
The crash happened in front of a Publix near Military Trail and Melaleuca Lane.
North and southbound lanes of Military Trail are closed in the area.
Witnesses told the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office that a silver Chrysler convertible was traveling northbound on Military Trail when it lost control, hit the median, soared in the air and struck a silver Mercedes.
The sheriff's office says the Mercedes then hit four other vehicles.
The driver of the Chrysler tried to flee, the sheriff's office said, but was caught about a half mile away by Greenacres police.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue initially said the call was reported as a three-vehicle accident.
Initial reports said 4 people suffered injuries. One patient had to be extricated by firefighters.
Two of the patients were transported by Trauma Hawk to St. Mary's Medical Center.
