WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Robert Gomez, a coach of a flag football team for girls in Palm Beach County, is charged with molesting a child.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office says the alleged incident happened at Gomez's home on 87th Street in West Palm Beach on December 4th 2010.
Investigators say the alleged victim stayed the night at Gomez's home because she was friends with the suspect's two daughters.
According to a police report, Gomez blamed his behavior on the amount of alcohol he drank the night of the alleged incident. The Acreage Athletic League has confirmed that Gomez was a coach for more than one season for The Acreage Girls Flag Football League.
The family of the alleged molestation victim filed a restraining order against Gomez on December 14th.
When The Acreage Athletic League was made aware of the restraining order, it disqualified Gomez from coaching. Gomez is no longer a coach and hasn't been since mid December.
Gomez made his first court appearance Thursday morning where his bond was set at 101,000 dollars.
