LOXAHATCHEE, Fla. - Many Palm Beach County voters continue to wait for their absentee ballots. Dolores Thomas has been checking her mailbox for the last two weeks. She registered online several weeks ago and received conformation that her ballot was mailed out last Monday.
"They told me to wait to get it by the end of next week and it wasn't there, and so I tried calling Today and they had me on hold after numerous phone calls for at least two hours," said Thomas.
Thomas leaves to go out of town Tuesday for a business trip and is afraid she won't make it back in time to vote. She said that's why this absentee ballot is so important to her.
"If I can't get back in time to vote and therefore I don't have input to the Presidential election," said Thomas.
Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections, Susan Bucher said Thomas may have been one of ten thousand voters who hasn't received their ballot yet because of an error on them.
"We mailed all of the absentee ballots except ten thousand for the first part of October and we captured them and hand opened them and reinserted a corrected page, and as you know there was a vendor error and so we rather have the corrected ballot card so we don't have to duplicate their vote," said Bucher.
Bucher said the corrected ballots were dropped in the mail last Saturday and voters should receive them by the end of the week.
