LOXAHATCHEE, Fla. - Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control is searching for the owner of a 12-year-old horse.
The horse was found wandering in Loxahatchee at the intersection of F Road and Collecting Canal Road late Saturday night.
The horse shows signs of neglect. She is very skinny and has abrasions on her front right leg.
“Is there an owner out there that we can reunite this horse with?" asked Animal Care and Control Director Dianne Sauve.
"Failing that, the question would be 'how did she get in this condition?' We need people to come forward and help us with that,” said Sauve.
Animal Care and Control picked up the horse and brought her to theif headquarters.
Devon Curphey lives in Loxahatachee near the spot where the horse was found. He says tough economic times are leading to people abandoning their animals in some parts of his area.
“They’re just packing up and they're leaving and if they can take their animal, OK. If they can’t take their animal then they’re leaving them,” said Curphey.
If you have any information you’re asked to call Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control at (561) 233-1250.
