LOXAHATCHEE, Fla. - At Quinntessance Nursery in Loxahatchee, plants seem to have survived overnight cold temperatures.

The nursery, which sells tropical plants along with several other types of plants, prepared for the worst Tuesday.

Three of the nursery's 15 acres were covered with white tarps, stretching about 20 feet each.

The tarps kept the warm air in and kept the plants undamaged.

By early Wednesday morning, co-owner Joe Quinn said all plants appear to be fine.

Quinn still calls the week a loss due to hours spent preparing for the cold rather than tending to normal nursery work.
