Pedestrian killed Saturday in Loxahatchee was walking in lane of traffic

He may have had drugs or alcohol in his system

LOXAHATCHEE, Fla. - A pedestrian who was killed Saturday night in Loxahatchee was walking in one of the lanes of traffic when he was struck by a vehicle, according to a media release by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Carlos R. Mateo Pascual, 38, was walking in one of the westbound lanes of Southern Boulevard near Flying Cow Road around 8:24 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle driven by Wilma Ivelisse Rios of Loxahatchee, the sheriff’s office said.

Pascual died at the scene. The sheriff's office said that he had drugs or alcohol in his system.

Rios was not injured.

The sheriff’s office said that Pascual’s address was not known and that all attempts had been made to find his next of kin.

“At this time there are no further contacts,” the report said.
