LOXAHATCHEE GROVES, Fla. -- It was an emotional night as crowds came together Sunday to say farewell to the Loxahatchee Groves man who was shot and killed by a Palm Beach County sheriff's deputy.
Investigators have said Seth Adams, 24, lunged at Sgt. Michael Custer and put his life at risk.
Family and friends tried to push beyond the shooting and remember the life of a man they said touched so many lives.
"I remember thinking on our first date, when we went out, I called my best friend and I called and said, 'I'm in love with him.' I was like 'we're going to get married,'" said Taylor Lindsten, Adams' girlfriend.
Lindsten was joined by hundreds of others who insist that Adams was a man who made his friends better people.
"If it wasn't for him, I definitely wouldn't be the man I am today. You know he was just a great person. So kind hearted," said a friend of Adams.
Sheriff Ric Bradshaw insists the life of his deputy was threatened by the actions of Adams.
Nearly everyone at the service disagreed with the account of events and many wore shirts with a link to an online petition on Change.org. Supports of the petition said they want an unbiased and fair investigation into what happened the night Adams was shot.
"We know a great injustice has been done based on the circumstances. And our tendency is as humans, an appeal for justice to be done," said a co-worker of Adams.
But for a few hours, many tried to go past what happened the night Adams was shot and worked to remember the happier times.
"Seth, we got to remember and celebrate him because Seth is in a better place even though we are the ones that hurt," said a family friend of Adams.
The family of Seth Adams did not wish to speak out at the service. A friend close to the family said they are overwhelmed by support and said it has been key to the healing process.
