It's the news some divers have been waiting all year to hear: It's almost lobster mini-season!

The special two day spiny lobster mini-season is July 27th and 28th.

It's a time when recreational divers can collect the crustaceans before commercial traps go in the water.

Those taking part must have a saltwater fishing license and a spiny lobster permit.

Divers planning to participate must also adhere to guidelines on the size and number of lobsters that may be taken.

To make sure your catch is legal, "Florida Fish and Wildlife" agents will be out on the water with their K-9's. Dogs are trained to sniff out illegal catches on land and water.

They save wildlife agents a lot of time during the busy two-day season.

To ensure a safe lobster mini season, Raymond Lee Jewelers in Boca Raton will offer a free test on any dive watch to make sure it's working properly.

They are located in the Palms Plaza off Powerline Road.
