Authorities have identified the bicyclist who died yesterday when he tumbled over a guardrail on Hypoluxo Road and fell 35 feet, landing near the exit ramp of Interstate 95.

James Alfred Oatway, 60, of Lantana died at the scene, Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Lt. Tim Frith reports this morning.

Oatway wrecked about 8:14 p.m. Sunday. According to the report issued to the media Oatway was riding his bicycle west on Hypoluxo Road when for "unknown reasons he entered the I-95 southbound exit ramp, crossed it from the east side to the west side" and then crashed into the concrete barrier wall on the west side of the exit ramp. He and the bike went over the wall and fell some 35 feet to ground below, FHP reports.
