LANTANA, Fla. - A speeding driver sought by Boynton Beach police slammed into two parked cars then crashed and caught fire in Lantana Tuesday morning, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
Boynton Beach police tried to pull over a Mercedes Benz on Boynton Beach Boulevard. Instead, the driver sped away, drove north on the interstate, and exited so fast on the ramp to Hypoluxo Road that he lost control and hit a Honda and Mustang, according to the sheriff's office.
The Mustang flipped over and the Mercedes rolled over and caught fire, the sheriff's office said.
The driver managed to get out of the burning vehicle and tried to flee but was caught a short time later by Boynton Beach police.
The sheriff's office says the drivers of the Honda, Mustang and Mercedes were transported to area hospitals for treatment.
According to the sheriff's office, vehicle homicide investigators have been called to investigate the crash.
