LANTANA, Fla. -- Police closed off Miner Road in Lantana this morning after a man's deceased body was found face-up on the side of the road.
Police and crime scene investigators responded to the scene on Miner Road around 5:45 a.m. after a woman on her way to a bus stop discovered the body and called police, Lantana police say.
Officers said the body, located near the 100 block of Waterside Drive, had no visible trauma. However, investigators have not been able to determine how the man died.
The body was removed from the scene by the medical examiner before 8:50 a.m.
There are no details on the age of the man, or whether this is a case of foul play. Currently, authorities are treating this as an "active death investigation."
Because Lantana police do not have a violent crimes unit, Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office homicide units responded to the scene and are assisting in the investigation.
