Two men shot in attempted robbery Friday morning in Lake Worth

LAKE WORTH — Two men have been shot in what appears to be an attempted robbery on the streets of Lake Worth. The victims have been taken to area hospitals, and deputies are now searching for the shooters, Palm Beach County Sheriff's officials report.

Deputies were called to the shooting in the 500 block of South F Street about 4:44 a.m. Investigators say two men were "hanging out" when they were approached by two black men wearing all black and carrying guns.

The armed men attempted to rob the victims and a fight followed. One of the robbery targets was shot in the torso, the other in his hand. The suspects ran away, Barbera said.

The man shot in his torso was taken to Delray Medical Center. The other was taken to JFK Medical Center. Their conditions are unknown, Barbera said.

The investigation continues.
