LAKE WORTH, Fla. - Three children and two adults were displaced Saturday evening after fire destroys half of a duplex in Lake Worth, said Capt. Albert Borroto, spokesman for Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.

Crews arrived at 3944 Holden Lake around 6:05 p.m. to find heavy fire coming from the front door of the duplex. Hurricane panels on the windows hampered firefighers’ efforts to put out the fire, Borroto said.

Despite the challenges posed by the panels, crews were able to contain the fire to one side of the duplex, he said.

The family is being assisted by the Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
