Student art stolen from Lake Worth

LAKE WORTH, Fla. - Leaders at the Palm Beach County Cultural Council are wondering why someone would take student art.

A spokesperson with the council said four of the 64 12"x12" wood media panels were stolen between Saturday April 30th and Sunday May 1st.

The art on the panels were created by elementary and middle school students from the Lake Worth after-school center "For the Children".

The council hired teaching artist Jennifer O'Brien to work with the kids on the month-long project.

The panels were created with paint and were part of the "Lake Worth-Past & Present" exhibit on display at a temporary construction wall outside of the council's future headquarters in downtown Lake Worth.

The stolen art was replaced with copies that included a note describing what happened to the originals. The panels will be sold after the new headquarters are open.
