Police: Man drives car into suburban Lake Worth home in pursuit of another man

LAKE WORTH, Fla. - A Palm Springs man was arrested on Sunday after allegedly driving his car through a porch in attempt to run over an acquaintance.

Christian De la Paz Oyola, 22, is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond. He is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and criminal mischief.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the 4900 block of Clinton Boulevard in suburban Lake Worth at 3:39 p.m. on Sunday to reports of a car crashing into a home. When deputies arrived, they spoke to the home's owner, who said that a car crashed through his porch and front door as his neighbor pounded on the door to call police.

Deputies later learned from the neighbor - a 27-year-old man who was being attacked - that De la Paz allegedly tried running him over with his car. De la Paz showed up at the man's home with a third, unidentified man who he's had problems with in the past, according to the affidavit

The 27-year-old, whose name is withheld in the report, said that he and the two other men got into a physical fight, which was later followed up with De la Paz trying to run him over. After De la Paz's alleged first assault with the car, the man ran to his neighbor's home and pounded on the door, asking for someone to call police.

At some point, De la Paz returned and tried running over the man "at least twice" as he stood on his neighbor's porch, the affidavit stated.

When De la Paz was interrogated, he admitted to deputies that there was a fight, but denied attempting to run over the alleged victim. The deputy noted in the report, however, that De la Paz' car had damage to the "driver's side door and left front fender."
