LAKE WORTH, Fla. - A Lake Worth man died early Saturday morning after being struck by a Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputy's vehicle.

According to the PBSO, Deputy Scott Yoder was traveling north on Dixie Highway around 12:36 a.m. and as he neared 5th Avenue North, Francisco Andres, ran across the roadway and into the path of the deputy's vehicle.

Andres, 39, died at the scene.

Family and friends of Andres said they do not know why the victim darted into traffic. They said Andres was a hard worker who died too young.

"He's just a good guy. I don't know why it (happened). An accident is an accident. He's a good guy," said Pascul Andres, a friend of the victim.

Some drivers familiar with the area say pedestrians cut across the road often.

The deputy is not facing any charges.
