Park Vista High School is celebrating a gold medal effort.
The school's marching band returned Wednesday after a long bus ride from Jacksonville with a $10,000 first place prize.
the 154 band students competed in the Gator Bowl High School Band competition. The group placed first in the parade competition and first in the field show competition.
"We definitely worked really hard, the preparation is unbelievable it's because of the dedication that we all have toward this activity, that's why we won this event," drum major Taylor Comes said.
Band director Aaron Snipes said the money the band won will be used for new uniforms, new instruments and new equipment for the band.
