SUBURBAN LAKE WORTH, Fla. - Detectives have arrested a man accused of murdering his pregnant wife this morning in suburban Lake Worth and then trying to kill himself, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

Paul Daniels, 36, is charged with first degree murder after deputies said he shot his wife Donna Daniels, 27, who was five-months pregnant -- and then turned the gun on himself.

When deputies arrived at the scene at 4482 Stevens Road at 2:30 a.m., they found two crying children -- a boy and a girl -- with neighbors, according to an arrest affidavit.

The young girl told deputies her mother and father got into a fight inside their home, which then continued outside.

She told deputies, "Dad pulled out a gun and shot mom. Dad then turned around and shot my brother. I thought he was going to shoot me so I ran. I heard one shot and then saw dad on the ground," according to the incident report.

Details on the extent of the boy's injuries have not yet been made available.

Donna was found unresponsive inside a vehicle outside the home, according to the report. Paul was lying on the ground outside the vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head.

Lying next to him was a 9mm handgun, the report states. Two casing were recovered inside the vehicle and one outside the vehicle.

According to PBSO spokesperson Teri Barbera, Paul Daniels was rushed to Delray Medical Center for his injuries.

Paul Daniels has been charged with first degree murder, but will not attend first appearance until he is released from the hospital.
