LAKE WORTH, Fla. - Lake Worth is celebrating six new homeowners who just moved into the community!
There was a ceremony for them Friday morning. All six got some help from the Lake Worth Community Redevelopment Agency, which is fixing up neighborhoods hit hard by foreclosures and the economic downturn.
The idea is to boost property values and get more homes back on the tax rolls.
New resident Jill Karlin went through a foreclosure and bankruptcy back in 2000, but thanks to CRA, she got her credit in check, and was able to buy again. "I feel very lucky that I was able to purchase a home that was build for about a half million dollars for a lot less than that," Karlin said.
The program provides down payment and closing cost assistance for low and moderate income households. You can learn more about the program by clicking here .
