Nathaniel Faulk, Lake Worth man, didn't tell partner about HIV, cops say

LAKE WORTH, FLA.  A convicted felon living in Lake Worth is facing charges Wednesday, accused of not telling his girlfriend he has HIV while the two were having unprotected sex.

Nathaniel Faulk, 51, told authorities he's had HIV for eight years; something his former girlfriend says he never shared with her.

"We had met and started dating and we moved in together on the first of July," said the victim, who only wanted to be referred to as "Cindy."

"I hadn't been with anybody in two years and I took a chance and this is what I get for it," she said.

After finding HIV medicine in his drawer, Cindy says she confronted Faulk.  "He said he didn't know how to tell me."

Palm Beach County judge Krista Marx granted Faulk bond Wednesday morning.  $5,000 dollars on each of the ten counts.  Ten for the number of times the two had unprotected sex.
        
"How do you just not say, 'look we need to use a condom, I have HIV,'" said Cindy.

Faulk now faces third degree felony charges for not disclosing his HIV status.

The Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County says there is a growing population of people who disagree with laws that mandate the disclosure of a positive HIV status to sexual partners.

Meanwhile, the Palm Beach County Health Department says it can only encourage people who test positive to notify their sexual partners and to use a condom.

Cindy, who currently tests negative for HIV, is now regretting her choice to get close to Faulk, and warning other women who may have done the same.
 
"I'm never going to be sure, he's taken that, that comfort from away me."

Faulk has been convicted in the past on other charges including carjacking, robbery, resisting arrest with violence, and domestic battery.  He just got out of jail this year.
