LAKE WORTH, Fla. - CAUTION, SOME MIGHT FIND THE VIDEO DISTURBING
Beach visitors in Lake Worth made a disturbing find Monday morning.
They found a five-foot shark with its head cut off and entrails removed. The organs were dumped in a nearby hole in the sand. Beer cans were strewn around the body.
It appeared the shark was caught and reeled into shore because there was a large hook in its mouth.
People walking by said they were stunned to see it and disgusted someone would do that to an animal.
"It's sick. It's disgusting to see a beheaded shark with all of its insides just thrown everywhere," said one beach visitor.
Another added, "Seen all the beer cans, seen all the (fishing) line. It looks like there could have been some foul play."
The shark was about 10 feet past Lake Worth city limits on county land. As a result, lifeguards say it is up to Palm Beach County to remove the shark.
