LAKE WORTH, Fla. -- A man was hit by a train this morning in Lake Worth.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said the man was sleeping on the tracks near the 1100 block of 1st Ave South, when an FEC train struck him.

The conductor tried to alert the man as the train approached around 1:30 a.m., the sheriff's office said.

The still unidentified man unsuccessfully tried to roll off the tracks, but the train struck his legs.

He is expected to survive, but suffered two broken legs.
