LAKE WORTH, Fla. - The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the the public’s help locating two men suspected of impersonating law enforcement officers in Lake Worth.
There have been a least five incidents reported.
The suspects approach neighbors in the community, identify themselves as law enforcement officers, and rob their victims, the sheriff's office said.
The latest incident took place on September 21st in the 3800 block of Kirk Road.
According to investigators, one of the suspects knocked the door of the residence and claimed to be a detective. He then entered the house and questioned the occupants about drugs and neighbors. The sheriff's office said the man then demanded money and cell phones and eventually flashed a gun when he was met with resistance. The homeowners refused all demands and the suspected police impersonator ran off.
Investigators have released composite sketches of the two suspects, and believe they are working together.
