SUBURBAN LAKE WORTH, Fla. -- Palm Beach County Fire Rescue crews are calling a fire that devastated a flower shop along South Military Trail the day after Valentine's Day an accident.
Crews received reports at about 4:22 a.m. of smoke and flames coming from A Flower Patch at 3435 South Military Trail in suburban Lake Worth. It was later determined the fire was caused by an electrical panel in the back of the building, according to Fire Rescue officials.
A majority of the damage was caused by smoke and heat, a spokesperson said. A rack of spray paint cans set off by the heat also added to the fire.
The building was constructed in 1984 and is owned by Betsy and Todd Hillman.
By 7 a.m., the fire was out and the crews were packing up.
Hillman says his flower shop has been in business for 34 years. He's not sure if he'll continue after this.
