LAKE WORTH, Fla. - The Florida Highway Patrol has released details of an accident that temporarily shut down lanes on I-95 Wednesday morning.

A tractor-trailer crashed and caught fire just before 3 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the interstate near 6th Avenue South.

According to investigators, A 2005 Mazda driven by Hudson Furtado of Orlando lost control of his sedan and veered into the path of the semi driven by Roger Douglas of Lake Butler, Florida.

The big rig was unable to avoid a collision, struck a concrete wall and then turned on its side.

Douglas was carrying PVC piping which spilled on the road.

The semi's gas tank erupted and the tractor-trailer burst into flames.

Traffic quickly backed up and the interstate was closed for a short time.

By 8:25 all lanes were open.

The FHP website initially said there were injuries, but it turns out neither driver was seriously hurt.

Two other vehicles traveling southbound struck the debris-littered highway.

Damage to the tractor-trailer was estimated at $60,000. Damage to the Mazda was estimated at $10,000.

Troopers say Furtado faces charges of failure to use due care.
