LAKE WORTH, Fla. - A man was rescued by a Coast Guard helicopter crew after his vessel sank southeast of Lake Worth, Saturday.
Michael Forbes, 41, was on board the boat when it started sinking.
A good Samaritan contacted the Coast Guard to report the 17-foot vessel taking on water approximately 39 miles southeast of Lake Worth.
Once the helicopter crew arrived on scene, a Coast Guard rescue swimmer was deployed and pulled Forbes from the water to safety.
A Royal Navy pilot stationed at Air Station Miami said Forbes was extremely fortunate to survive: He was not carrying a hand held radio when the boat went down.
Forbes was later taken to Freeport, Bahamas, with no reported injuries.
