PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. - The Kids Fitness Festival is only a two day event in Palm Beach County, but the preparation starts months in advance.
"It's a major undertaking putting on an event like this," says executive director of PB sports commission, George Linley. "We have very talented staff that works very hard in coordinating the 45 different sport clinics. So we have 45 different events that we synergize into one major event."
Over 2,500 kids had a chance to learn and participate in a variety of new sports.
"The Palm Beach County sports commission will attend different events throughout the country and they'll identify new sports," says Jeff Zipper, the chairman of the Kids Fitness Festival. "They'll start a dialogue, and if those sports are local they'll be invited."
"Many kids have never even heard of a mallet or wicket, we just want those kids to get involved and understand the education of all different sports around the world," says Shelly Mayes of the National Croquet Center.
"This event, to me, helps us support what we stand for which is active kids, having fun and getting out there and just being energized," says Ricky Wade of the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
The festival is still accepting walk-ups for Thursday's final day. Doors will open at 10 a.m.
