PALM SPRINGS, Fla. — A gas leak in Palm Springs has forced authorities to evacuate two day-care centers off 10th Avenue North and closed the street between Kirk and Davis roads.
Kid’s College and Kreative Kids were both evacuated by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue crews after reports of a gas leak at 9:35 a.m. to the area of 10th Avenue North and Rostan Lane in Palm Springs. The leak happened when workers digging in the area broke a 1” line, reports, fire rescue spokesman Capt. Albert Borroto.
The leak has been stopped, Borroto said. But crews are still surveying to determine the area’s safety.
Palm Springs Elementary — which is right next to Kreative Kids on the northwest corner of Davis Road and 10th Avenue North — was initially a concern for firefighters, but they quickly learned that no summer school was being conducted.
