SUBURBAN WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office has identified the victims involved in Monday's deadly crash in suburban West Palm Beach.
According to the sheriff's office, 17-year-old James T. McLendon died when his Mazda 626 collided with a dump truck driven by 54-year-old Bobby Moore.
Witnesses told investigators that McLendon was driving at a 'high rate of speed' traveling eastbound on Belvedere Road as a vehicle driven by Cathy Manriquez, 60, made a right turn on Belvedere from Sansburys Way.
McLendon swerved to the left to avoid a collision and crossed into oncoming traffic striking the truck, according to the sheriff's office.
Natalie Pastorius, 17, who was a passenger in McLendon's car, had to be extricated from the vehicle. She was last listed in serious condition.
Investigators say speed was a factor in the crash.
