PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. - As the start of school approaches, the Palm Beach County Department of Health is reminding parents to get their children vaccinated. The department says children entering kindergarten will need to have proof of their last dose of polio vaccine and Diptheria/Tetanus/Pertussis vaccine since their fourth brithday.

Children in seventh, eighth and ninth grades will need proof that they have received the Tetanus/Diptheria/Pertussis Booster.  All students should have received other vaccines like Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Hepatitis B and Chickenpox.

The form 680 should be on file for every student to prove their receipt of the vaccines.

Pamela Kline, with the department, says there is a resurgence of certain illnesses in the U.S. after they have been brought into the country from overseas. Some of the routine illnesses can have serious consequences.

Department employees encourage parents to attend an immunization time and ask questions.

"I think everybody's afraid of the pain, or having too many, there is a very, very small amounts of vaccine going in to you.  There's not a problem with having too many vaccines, you can't be over-immunized, you can't have too many immunizations at one time," Kline said.

Currently, the Palm Beach County Health Department is providing immunizations in various locations.  Visit http://www.pbchd.com/ for details of the immunization van's schedule.
