GREENACRES, Fla. — A Diamond View Elementary School student brought an unloaded handgun to school this morning, a Palm Beach County School District spokesman said today.
School staff and school police confiscated the weapon, spokesman Nat Harrington said in an e-mail.
The age and grade of the student were not released. Harrington said that preliminary information indicates that the student didn't display the gun or make any threats with it.
The investigation is continuing.
A secretary answering the phone at the Greenacres school, when asked about the incident, responded that the school is not making any statements about the incident at this time.
The Palm Beach County School District has released the following statement:
School staff working with School Police confiscated an unloaded handgun from a student at Diamond View Elementary School this morning. Preliminary information indicates that the gun had not been displayed, and no threats had been made using the weapon. The investigation is continuing.
