LAKE WORTH, Fla. - A pedestrian was struck and killed  Wednesday morning on Melaleuca Lane in suburban Lake Worth.

Deputies say Fatemeh Kazemishahmirzadi , 78, of Greenacres was attempting to cross Melaleuca Lane and walked in front of a Hyundai SUV driven by Tracy Laing, 22, of Wellington. Kazemishahmirzadi was pronounced dead at the scene.

Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputies closed Melaleuca Lane between Sherwood Forest Blvd and Haverhill Road while they conducted their investigation.

The road is now open.

The accident occurred at 6:40 a.m. Wednesday.

Investigators urge anyone who saw the crash to call Investigator Hyde at 681-4542.
