GREENACRES, Fla. - Greenacres police are investigating a deadly early Sunday morning shooting.

Investigators say Greenacres police officers were called out to the 100 block of Fleming Avenue at 4:13 a.m. in reference to a home invasion.

Upon arrival, officers determined that the homeowner of 129 Fleming Avenue shot and killed a white male intruder identified as James M. Fritz, 20,  of West Palm Beach, according to Greenacres Captain Gina Abbananto.

She said the homeowners did not know Fritz.

Abbananto said that Fritz entered the residence by breaking the window of the kitchen door. Once inside, he armed himself with two large kitchen knives. When confronted by the homeowner, Fritz went towards the owner with the knives and was shot.

The house is owned by Joseph and Margaret Wagner.

Abbananto said the investigation is continuing.
