WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - A Greenacres woman accused of abusing and stealing money from her own mother faced a judge Monday morning.

Jessica Rampersadsingh was sentenced to six years of probation and is now required to pay $25,000 in restitution.

That is a small fraction of the amount she's accused of stealing from her elderly mother.

Last year, Rampersadsingh was arrested and accused of draining her mother's bank account of $140,000 in the course of 8 months.

Investigators say she would give her mother medication, then get her to write checks, allegedly threatening to throw the handicapped woman on the street if she didn't do as told.

In the meantime, investigators claim Rampersadsingh badly abused her mother.

According to a police report, "Jessica stopped buying food at the grocery store, stopped bathing her and stopped helping her completely."

The report goes on to claim that Rampersadsingh told investigators, "she didn't think she did anything wrong."

She made no comment Monday in court.
