PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL -- The momentum to end texting while driving in Florida shifted into high gear. Greenacres City Council members approved a resolution urging state lawmakers to ban the deadly practice.

Many people consider texting while driving worse than drunk driving and that's why this topic is getting alot of interest not just locally but nationally. Lawmakers want to put an end to the bad habit and that's why Greenacres stepped up and made a bold statement. They basically put into words that state lawmakers need to prohibit texting and driving.

"Definitely stop it, there's nothing worse than texting and there's nothing worse than cell phones when you're in the car talking," says one Greenacres resident.

According to State Senator Ted Deutch, there are already discussions in Washington DC about mandating states to ban texting and driving and that can only help when state lawmakers sit down to vote on this.

"My hope is that in the upcoming legislative session in March that we will finally be able to ban texting while driving and there are only so many things we can do in the legislature that can have a positive impact, help save lives and not cost money this is one of them," says Deutch.
