SUBURBAN BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - UPDATE: The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office says the plaza and nearby roads have been reopened.

EARLIER STORY:

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office says the Flakowitz plaza in suburban Boynton Beach has been closed and evacuated due to a gas leak.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue said its crews were dispatched to Hangen Ranch Road and Venture Center Way where they discovered construction workers had struck a 4-6 inch natural gas line.

A HazMat team is on scene and Florida Public Utilities is also sending a crew to help seal the leak.

As a result, PBSO says Hagen Ranch Road from Boynton Beach Boulevard south past Hagen Ranch Elementary is closed.
