SUBURBAN LAKE WORTH, Fla. - A suburban Lake Worth man was arrested on Monday after deputies discovered and estimated 40 pounds of marijuana inside his duplex home.
Erik Alverdi Cabrera, 40, is being held at the Palm Beach County in lieu of $100,000 bond. He is facing trafficking in cannabis charges.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Palm Beach County Sheriff's narcotics agents were conducting surveillance at the duplex home in the 4600 block of Mulberry Road around 11 a.m. Monday when an unknown man drove up to the home.
After obtaining a search warrant, deputies were told by the man that he did not live there but that his friend, Cabrera, did.
Cabrera walked out after agents knocked on the door of a structure detached from the home. During the search, agents found 55 cannabis plants in one of the duplex units and 55 cannabis plants in the other, the affidavit stated.
An agent noted in the affidavit that there were no signs of anyone actually living inside the units, since there were no beds or clothing.
"The only actual living quarters on the property was in the detached building where Cabrera was initially inside," the agent wrote in the affidavit
On Tuesday, Palm Beach County Circuit Judge Krista Marx ordered Cabrera to turn over his passport should he bond out.
