CAIR questioner speaks out about Congressman Allen West confrontation that has gone viral on YouTube

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - "I've been on the battlefield. Don't try to blow sunshine up my butt." Congressman Allen West spoke those words Monday night at a town hall meeting after Nezar Hamze, executive director of the Council of American-Islamic Relations of South Florida, questioned his knowledge of the Koran and West's stance on Islam.

Hamze says the Congressman's words still sting."For him to be able to look at me just because I follow Islam and turn on me like that and turn on me with that aggression is troubling," said Hamze.

Hamze claims West routinely speaks out against Islam. But Congressman West isn't backing off what he said Monday. "I stand on principle and I'm not going to allow anyone to intimidate me or push me around. I'm an American and sometimes Americans speak in very tough tones and that's what I did," said West.

The former army colonel says he has helped 3 people of the Muslim faith take steps in becoming American citizens. "I'm not going to allow someone sit up and castigate me as someone as some type of enemy of that religion. Because I've been over there, I've been willing to lay my life on the line to bring liberty and freedom to that part of the world," said West.

Hamze wants to sit down with West to clear the air. "I'm not his enemy. I'm an American born person, I love this country just like he does," said Hamze.

West's office said the congressman does not plan to meet with Hamze.
