PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla.-- - Four pounds of C-4 explosives were used to detonate the inside of a bus at the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Gun Range on Thursday.
The dramatic explosion was part of a training exercise for the Forensics Response Teams of the Southeast Regional Domestic Security Task Force.
Nearly 30 Crime Scene Investigation technicians from more than 10 county and municipal agencies from Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties took part in the mock terror exercise.
Coordinators say the goal is for those involved in the training to network with each other.
"They will meet folks that do similar jobs in other parts of the region that they may not already know and that they may be called upon to work with in the future," said Manuel Cela, director with the South Florida Regional Planning Council.
Though only a drill, the exercise included the use of fake body parts and evidence markers to be used during the investigation process.
