A Boy Scout is making a difference in South Florida.

Brian Blickle's goal to become an Eagle Scout was to retire 500 unserviceable American flags.

Boynton Beach Police Chief Matt Immler, a former Eagle Scout himself, is helping Brian by encouraging people to donate worn or tattered flags.

By carrying out the respectful act. The 8th grader hopes to earn his "Eagle Scout" ranking.

"It's a symbol of our country and you just don't want to throw it away because it's our symbol and you want to dispose of it properly."

Brian has not only reached his goal, but with the help of South Florida residents, he has over 800 flags.

Brian will host a flag disposal ceremony on February 8th at John Prince Park.
