Riviera Beach, FL - Boynton Beach Police responded to a carjacking Saturday morning on SE 5th Ave.

Police say that the carjacking victim was doused with gasoline and threatened with flame if he didn’t turn over all possessions including his white Chevy Malibu.

As the victim left the vehicle, he felt burning and realized he had been set on fire.

Police say the victim suffered burnt facial hair and burns to his left ear but escaped more serious injuries by taking off his t-shirt which absorbed the majority of the flames.

The suspect fled and the Florida Highway Patrol was notified.

FHP contacted On-Star in an attempt to track the vehicle.

The car was tracked to Southern Boulevard and Parker Avenue where troopers located it.

Troopers tried to stop the car, however it fled north onto I 95.

FHP says that the suspect Marvin Harris of Palm Coast, Florida got off the interstate at Blue Heron Blvd in Riviera Beach and crashed.
